The HUB Campus Groundbreaking
The HUB Campus
The vision to bring together a group of agencies and professionals to redevelop the City of Harrisburg and at the same time, help underserved populations, is the vision of Tarik Casteel. Tarik and his Aunt (Juanita Edrington-Grant) have the heart for the community. They each operate a non-profit for the purpose helping targeted populations in the community to live a meaningful and fruitful life. The following proposal was developed after much discussion (summer 2015 to December 2015) between Tarik and Juanita, and Juanita receiving a new understanding from Tarik about “redevelopment in the City of Harrisburg”.
Tarik’s for-profit, TLC Construction & Renovation LLC, and Juanita’s non-profit, Christian Recovery Aftercare Ministry, Inc. (CRAM) set out to purchase property to implement the vision which is now known as The HUB Campus (Harrisburg Uptown Building).
Tarik’s recommendation to Juanita to acquire the four (4) parcel property (former Hamilton Health Center) at 1821 Fulton Street, now stands as a debt free property that is in Phase 2 of 4 proposed/anticipated projects.
Project Breakdown
- Phase 1 is the renovation and construction of the physical existing building
- Phase 2 is the sale of the parking lot to a newly created entity – HUB Veterans Housing LP
- Phase 3 is the vacant lot/property that sits directly next to the existing building (behind Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ)
- Phase 4 is the 3 vacant lots that sit on the corner of 5th & Kelker Streets
The HUB Veterans Housing LP (HUB VH) is a result of an awarded tax credit through the investor Fulton Bank, to build a twenty (20) one-bedroom apartment facility for veterans.
